out Nate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last\u00a0weekend was busy with my kid&#8217;s hockey games and honey-dos but I grabbed Sunday afternoon for a ride.\u00a0 I needed to get in some climbing and since I had not been on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/NateHarrisonGrade.htm\">Nate\u00a0Harrison Grade <\/a>since before the 2007 fires, it was\u00a0a good time to revisit the place.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7fb5f5b777825bc728bcc7e1bbe1055e.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It did not take long along the climb to realize that the visibility was exceptional on this day.\u00a0\u00a0 As soon as I climbed out of the valley the ocean as well as Catalina and San Clemente Island could be seen.\u00a0\u00a0 To the south downtown San Diego could be seen as well as the Coronado Islands.\u00a0\u00a0 Simply impressive.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/5c7c707c8b6d262ef6ced3df0a923893.jpg?resize=840%2C235\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"235\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I was a little surprised to see that there was a few sections of the road that had been paved with some rough asphalt but understand the need to do so considering all the erosion issues that existed after the fires.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/eb76c9dc04428287a12a51164aa301de.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The views continued to just get better the further up I went.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>B&amp;W with Catalina in the distance.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7e34569edcbc5ebd5d9ec9dcbb8d7ed2.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Up near the top there was some remanents of snow here and there.\u00a0\u00a0 Not enough for a snowball fight but nice to see none the less.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/8a56b3f76b348ab137a6697769b99b79.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Just before reaching Boucher Peak view to the north opened up.\u00a0 San Jacinto in the distance.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/a91220dfb47c524374ec7f495e53eb50.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The views from Boucher Peak at 5,438 feet were pretty impressive today.\u00a0I was more than readay to chill for a while after the 4,700 feet of climbing to get here.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/40c8ab8bd89c76600a9c6876d58601bb.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It did not take too long before the low angle of the sun urged me to get moving down the mountain.\u00a0 I knew this was going to be a twilight finish.\u00a0 About halfway down the mountain I stopped to watch the sunset.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/6de5961074fc3b9c518e6205b0f6b141.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>It was simply fantastic.\u00a0 I even got to see a bit of the <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Green_flash\">green flash thing <\/a>you hear people talking about.\u00a0 I did not however have my camera setup to capture it.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After watching the sun finish up it&#8217;s march across the sky I released the hounds and enjoyed a blistering descent back down to my truck.\u00a0 Just another awesome day on a bike in
