Mt Eboshi near Sasebo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mount Eboshi is the most the promeint mountain surrounding Sasebo.\u00a0 So of course I had to go up there and see what the deal was as\u00a0I had been told there are trails up there.\u00a0\u00a0I had even been given a very rudimentary map.\u00a0 During my first visit I realized the map was pretty outdated and soon was relegated to remain in the pack\u00a0as backup <a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=mountain%20money\" target=\"_blank\">mountain money<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 Luckily there were a few trailhead maps that I was able to key off during my second visit and things started coming together (sorta).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/92b91da2523e7c9d36a364e7aae92d87.jpg?resize=599%2C899\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"899\" much your average trail look near the top of the mountain.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/4f42ecae30e46df3d71ca05b8a629019.jpg?resize=599%2C899\" alt=\"\" width=\"599\" height=\"899\" your chunk on?\u00a0 (Yes this is the trail)\u00a0 This this is pretty much the most extreme section of trail in the area, this type of rock is found interspersed along the trail and provide some nice character and features.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" to smell the flowers this critter came along.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" lookout\/rest stop.\u00a0\u00a0 Look at this angle on the benches.\u00a0 Does that not just scream, &#8220;Take a load off, lay back and\u00a0relax&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/eaa778b4cb6efc94132533bf65b5e421.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/eaa778b4cb6efc94132533bf65b5e421.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A skinny little bench cut that reminded me a bit of the SART.\u00a0 It was one of my favorite and longest sections.\u00a0 There is a lower section to this trail that appears to be rarely\u00a0used that was also superb but suffered from some\u00a0deadfall.\u00a0 I spent some time and cleared the stuff that could not be ridden over.\u00a0 I was hoping to see it continue on down the mountain but it stop at a road instead of crossing it and continuing onward.\u00a0 Bummer.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/8635c70c275c8c55d30c213ba6a6d2a1.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/8635c70c275c8c55d30c213ba6a6d2a1.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sort of a hazy view from the summit of Eboshi.\u00a0\u00a0 There are three trails going up to the summit, one is pretty mild, one looks nasty, and the other I have verified is a hike-a-bike pain in the arsh with just a merger 309 steps on the final section to the top.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/8704ff82c733ac562a068d35f604f999.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yes I counted them and even took notes\u00a0 &#8212; I didn&#8217;t have a pen \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/d88c292cee303f9d7768d2e6e32e9b35.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/d88c292cee303f9d7768d2e6e32e9b35.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A view from coming down the south\u00a0side of the mountain.<\/p>\n<p>While there is are some nice sections of trail I have yet to find a good trail that cashes out most of the four plus miles of climbing it takes to get up here on the road.\u00a0\u00a0 Most of the trails are up on top and none of the\u00a0trails I have found go more than a third of the way down the mountain before dumping out onto roads.\u00a0 I have found remnants of trails but\u00a0the pace of Mother Nature&#8217;s reclamation program there just does not seem to be enough use to\u00a0keep some of them from becoming overgrown.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0With a few or so\u00a0seasons of TLC \u00a0this place\u00a0could be a far east MTB mecca quality playground.\u00a0\u00a0 More to follow&#8230;. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<!--
