\u00a0<\/p>\nI had not seen my buddy Jerry in what seemed like half a year.\u00a0 We had just not been able to get a weekend to mesh up.\u00a0\u00a0The planets had finally aligned and both Bill O’Neil, Jerry\u00a0and I managed to get together for a ride.\u00a0 As an added bonus, SoCal rider at large and all around great guy\u00a0Jeff Sherman managed to put in some last-minute commuting mileage to join us.\u00a0\u00a0I had not seen him in over a year.\u00a0\u00a0Today would have been a good day even if we would had went straight to\u00a0shooting the breeze over some beers.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I as it turned out we had a great day out on the\u00a0San Clemente Singletracks.\u00a0\u00a0 (For those that have been inquiring about when I am going to get a page up on this place, I’m close, make a week or so away.)<\/p>\n
The day was mostly\u00a0cloudy with the\u00a0temperatures being\u00a0cool but not quite cold.\u00a0 The rainy season we are\u00a0having has made the hillsides quite green and the singletrack is getting quite single in most places.\u00a0\u00a0 I have a feeling this place is going to be going off with colors in the spring.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I took the single speed out today and it was\u00a0an excellent bike out here with only a couple of hills causing great distress and\/or hoofing it.\u00a0\u00a0 The traction was pretty good with only a couple of spots that are not draining well.\u00a0\u00a0 I was having a really good\u00a0time out here today and I felt like I was railing most of the\u00a0turns.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I did however crash twice\u00a0but came out absolutely unscathed.\u00a0 The first one was on the steepest\u00a0descent in the\u00a0entire place.\u00a0\u00a0 After riding along a contouring hillside\u00a0singltrack, the trail\u00a0abrutly turns straight down the hill for a short bit.\u00a0\u00a0 I came into the top of the\u00a0turn at the top of the hill too hot\u00a0which started a comical\u00a0four or five step\u00a0process of\u00a0near saves that amplified the next error until about\u00a0half way down the hill, the\u00a0bike and I went flying off into the tall grass.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 I had\u00a0stopped earlier up the trail to take the photo above so\u00a0my buds\u00a0were all waiting at the bottom\u00a0the hill with ring-side seats for the “Bobbling Bill and Bike Show”.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0You\u00a0know you are will buds, when they\u00a0immediately ask in a concerned tone “are you okay?” and as soon as you say “Yeah”\u00a0 they break out into uncontrollable \u00a0gut-busting laughter.\u00a0\u00a0 Even I was laughing over that one.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
UPDATE<\/strong>: Here is Jerry’s photo “Bobbling Bill and Bike Show”.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n The other crash was a bit more interesting,\u00a0 I came into a turn at the top of steep chute too fast and went offline enough to have my front wheel get grabbed by a small stump and over the bars I went in slo-mo fashion.\u00a0\u00a0 While I came out unscathed, a strap on my helmet gave up the ghost for the cause.\u00a0\u00a0Taking\u00a0a peek at my\u00a0tires I realized\u00a0they were not doing a good\u00a0job of shedding off dirt and mud which may have contributed to my follies off the trail today.\u00a0\u00a0The rest of the ride was filled with more hella fun singletracking until we realized that there was damn good beers with our name of them waiting at the end of the ride.<\/p>\n \u00a0 Here is Jeff\u00a0climbing.\u00a0<\/p>\n We had all brought a couple of our favorite brews to mix and match with the group\u00a0but Jeff\u00a0was the\u00a0big hit by bringing\u00a0a couple of growlers of\u00a0Kern River Brewing Companies finest creations.\u00a0\u00a0 We\u00a0finished\u00a0catching up on things on a patio of\u00a0a local burger joint.\u00a0\u00a0Great singletrack with some great friends\u00a0followed up with some great beers.\u00a0\u00a0 This was certainly and\u00a0outing were the experience was\u00a0greater than the sum of its individual parts.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
