{"id":970,"date":"2012-03-11T07:33:06","date_gmt":"2012-03-11T15:33:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/?p=970"},"modified":"2012-03-11T07:33:07","modified_gmt":"2012-03-11T15:33:07","slug":"guajome-park","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/?p=970","title":{"rendered":"Guajome Park"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So off and on I get asked where are good places to take\u00a0kids riding.\u00a0 On my website to-do list for quite sometime has been to create a where to take a kid guide.\u00a0\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/mountainbikebill.com\/LakeHodgesNorth.htm\">Lake Hodges<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/mountainbikebill.com\/LagunaRecArea.htm\">Big Laguna Trails<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/mountainbikebill.com\/LosPenDelMar.htm\">Penaqsuitos Canyon<\/a>\u00a0are places on the list but I had been thinking about some of the smaller places that would be good for the MTBer with little wheels would be.\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.sdcounty.ca.gov\/parks\/Camping\/guajome.html\">Guajome Park<\/a>\u00a0is one of those places good for the grommet MTBers to get a taste of dirt.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/b26e404ebf5a3be66c6e62ba5fca0f04.jpg?resize=840%2C630\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" imagescaler=\"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/67b3fe216421e8bd00c65f011ccbbe91.jpg\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Guajome Park (Or as my kids like to call it &#8220;Yo Hommie Park&#8221; is located on the east side of Oceanside right off of Highway 76.\u00a0\u00a0 It is a county park that has a campground, a couple of small ponds and\u00a0a series of trails that are no so overly engineered with split rail fencing and compacted non-native soil dirt sidewalks like are prevalent in many of the county parks near the urban environment.\u00a0\u00a0 This place still allows for kids to interact with the environment instead of just look at it.\u00a0 When my kids where younger we used to hike out here often and go just out the little nooks and crannies of the place.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/c0d68f0a248821cad61741bef2cc4443.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/c0d68f0a248821cad61741bef2cc4443.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Last week I was talking to youngest son Jake about the park and that I wanted to get a webpage together so Jake decided to join me on the photo, map recon effort.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/20fdd959b01c515c12c63712a367561a.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/20fdd959b01c515c12c63712a367561a.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>With\u00a0about 4.5 miles of trail out here\u00a0it can be quite fun for newbie kid.\u00a0 Even an a newbie adult who is willing to do a lot of hamster wheeling can find the place fun.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/119e8a9bb489ad66537e118780fc29e2.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/119e8a9bb489ad66537e118780fc29e2.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There are mainly fireroads here but there are also enough singletrack bits to keep a kid well engaged.\u00a0\u00a0 There are two different playgrounds at the park as well as large population of resident ducks that quite fond of stale loaf bread.\u00a0\u00a0 This would be a great place to take a little kid out for his first &#8220;big&#8221; MTB\u00a0adventure as there are lots of opportunities to do other things besides ride the bike.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: black 3px solid;\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/40ff5c2cf67f036c790d37b671d7f959.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/40ff5c2cf67f036c790d37b671d7f959.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>When I say &#8220;little&#8221;
