{"id":67,"date":"2008-06-07T15:23:27","date_gmt":"2008-06-07T23:23:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/?p=67"},"modified":"2010-07-16T15:27:18","modified_gmt":"2010-07-16T23:27:18","slug":"national-trails-day-at-lake-calvera","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/?p=67","title":{"rendered":"National Trails Day at Lake Calvera"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today was National Trails Day and the City of Carlsbad put together some events that included a hike and a bike ride.\u00a0 The <a title=\"SDMBA\" href=\"http:\/\/sdmba.com\/\">San Diego Mountain Bike Association <\/a>asked for\u00a0mountain bikers\u00a0to support and what a great showing of support the Mountain Biking community\u00a0did\u00a0today.\u00a0 My rough estimates, Mountain Bikers were over 2\/3rds of the participants present.\u00a0 With some city officials present, it was apparent that we got their attention.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/9e66f643c6147d568919f03a92c9c83e.jpg?resize=433%2C650\" border=\"3\" alt=\"Briefs\" width=\"433\" height=\"650\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/9e66f643c6147d568919f03a92c9c83e.jpg?resize=433%2C650\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><br \/>\nSDMBA&#8217;s\u00a0Coastal North County Liason, Erik Trogden give a quick brief.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There was a quick round of briefings and waiver\u00a0 signings that have to occur for these types of events and then we were off for a quick ride.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7ccae68f0556139362d2576d04ea6bb4.jpg?resize=650%2C433\" border=\"3\" alt=\"Adult Group\" width=\"650\" height=\"433\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7ccae68f0556139362d2576d04ea6bb4.jpg?resize=650%2C433\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><br \/>\nMost of the Intermediate Group<\/p>\n<p>There were two\u00a0ride groups, an intermediate and a beginner\u00a0ride.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0I was going to led a third kid-friendly ride.\u00a0 As it turned out all of the kidless adults went for the intermediate ride, so the beginner ride became the grommet ride.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/228bbd5d812dc06e1f8c318dd2ad9fc4.jpg?resize=520%2C650\" border=\"3\" alt=\"Free Rider\" width=\"520\" height=\"650\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/228bbd5d812dc06e1f8c318dd2ad9fc4.jpg?resize=520%2C650\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><br \/>\nThis gadget is cool.\u00a0\u00a0 This connect the seatpost of th big bike to the head tube of the little bike.\u00a0 It lifts the little bikes front wheel off the ground so Dad can steer a little easier.\u00a0 Both ends have quick disconnects so that either bike could be used as normal within a minute or two.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/e7699dc121da8e14ac873d8dc26ba969.jpg?resize=520%2C650\" border=\"3\" alt=\"\" width=\"520\" height=\"650\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/e7699dc121da8e14ac873d8dc26ba969.jpg?resize=520%2C650\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The kids were riding well ,so the loop ended up being just a bit bigger than planned.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/e49f980b818fcab315d3abda44571b9e.jpg?resize=650%2C441\" border=\"3\" alt=\"Grommet Crew\" width=\"650\" height=\"441\" imagescaler=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/e49f980b818fcab315d3abda44571b9e.jpg?resize=650%2C441\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Junior League<\/p>\n<p>It was really great that so many people took the time out to represent\u00a0Mountain Bikers\u00a0to the City of Carlsbad.\u00a0 I know that Saturdays for many is often the only chance during the week they\u00a0have to get in a big ride.\u00a0 So THANK YOU to all who gave up the &#8220;big ride&#8221;
