BLT Video Remastered"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I have been working on remastering some of my older videos to bring them up to new standards.\u00a0 \u00a0My videos range from ancient lip-stick camera and 8mm camcorders to GoPros.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0All of various eras of equipment will have their own challenges to remastering and some of them I&#8217;m just not going to make the time for the effort required.\u00a0 \u00a0But I am going to make an effort.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/p4QLQ05VPqM\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The video above is from 2007 where some of the usual suspects of the time rode from the Cuyamaca mountains over to the Lagunas by way of the Deer Springs and Indian Creek trails.\u00a0 \u00a0It was about a 40 mile day of great fun!<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_2161\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-2161\" style=\"width: 800px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/NewXCHelmetCam-04.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-2161\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/NewXCHelmetCam-04.jpg?resize=800%2C388\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"388\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/NewXCHelmetCam-04.jpg?w=911 911w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/NewXCHelmetCam-04.jpg?resize=300%2C146 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/NewXCHelmetCam-04.jpg?resize=768%2C373 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 709px) 85vw, (max-width: 909px) 67vw, (max-width: 984px) 61vw, (max-width: 1362px) 45vw, 600px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-2161\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Neck muscles of steel!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>This video was shot with a 1080i Canon HDV camcorder.\u00a0 It shot good video with the exception of the image stabilization.\u00a0 It used optical image stabilization which was consider really good for the time.\u00a0 \u00a0However it was optimized for handheld work and not for the rapid bouncing around that occurs during use as a helmet camera work.\u00a0 \u00a0 I&#8217;m pretty sure that the optical image stabilization often made things worse not better.\u00a0 \u00a0It certainly did not work as well as the electronic image stabilization that was on my previous standard definition camcorder setup.<\/p>\n<p>I had previously remastered my Galbraith Mountain video from 2009 but did not try to do any software stabilization of the video.\u00a0 Many moons ago I tried software stabilization and did not like all the artifacts it created in the video.<\/p>\n<p>For the Cuyamaca &#8211; Laguna video I gave the software stabilization another shot.\u00a0 \u00a0I&#8217;m using Adobe Premiere\u00a0 CC 2018 and it has warp stabilizer effect\/filter built in.\u00a0 \u00a0After a bit of trail and error I found some setting that work well enough.\u00a0 \u00a0There is a balancing act that has to be done with with the 1080i footage between smoothness and clarity.\u00a0 \u00a0 The filter will do a good job of stabilization but at the cost of cropping the footage.\u00a0 \u00a0When the footage is cropped the clarity of the footage is decreased.\u00a0 \u00a0 I found that trying to keep the crop below 125% typical kept thing looking good.\u00a0 \u00a0Some scenes I did not stabilize at\u00a0 all.\u00a0 \u00a0 Overall I&#8217;m satisfied enough with it as it is better than the windows media format stuff I was previously using.\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0There will be some more of this coming in the future.<\/p>\n<!-- Begin Yuzo --><div class='yuzo_related_post style-1'  data-version='5.12.81'><!-- without result --><div class='yuzo_clearfixed yuzo__title yuzo__title'><h3>More Stuff Like This<\/h3><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"relatedthumb \" style=\"width:165px;float:left;overflow:hidden;\">  \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t  \n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t  <a  href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/?p=894\"  >\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t  <div class=\"yuzo-img-wrap \" style=\"width: 165px;height:130px;\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"yuzo-img\" style=\"background:url('https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/exploding-motherboard.jpg?resize=150%2C150') 50% 50% no-repeat;width: 165px;height:130px;margin-bottom: 5px;background-size: cover;
