at SCST"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I spent an afternoon this weekend showing Nichol around the<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150905063957\/http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/SCST.htm\"> San Clemente Singletracks <\/a>(aka San Onfre State Park aka \u201cThe Weed Patch).\u00a0\u00a0The trails are in great conditions and the winter greenery is in full effect.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/SCST-17JAN15-03.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1768\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/7ef55dc54395f662ff38213268cef340.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"SCST-17JAN15-03\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It is really awesome that\u00a0the\u00a0state park legalized the majority of the user-built trail network out here but I always find the \u201cCultural\u201d names they gave\u00a0the trails funny.\u00a0 (And\u00a0nearly unpronounceable\u00a0to boot).\u00a0\u00a0The Pacific Ocean is off in the distance here along with the Oregon and Ho Chi-Min trails.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/SCST-17JAN15-07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1765\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/5fe09f6187d4773d7c6fd6fb73cee612.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"SCST-17JAN15-07\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Climbing \u201cStitches\u201d which I think the\u00a0park calls \u201cYuma\u2019ukawichum Pompe\u201d.\u00a0 No matter what you call it, it is a nice bit of trail.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/SCST-17JAN15-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1766\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/8bbb92bea9ac9555d9e30c54382d4f89.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"SCST-17JAN15-02\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cruising \u201cNo-Tools\u201d.\u00a0 This trail got its name because no tools were used in its original construction.\u00a0 Folks just rode the route enough that a trail bedded in.\u00a0 Off in the distance in Santiago Peak and the San Ana Mountains that are home many a trail such as.\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/TrabucoHolyJim.htm\">Trabuco and Holy Jim<\/a>, the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/san_juan.htm\"> San Juan Trail <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/WestHorsethief.htm\">West Horse Thief <\/a>\u00a0just name a few.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/SCST-17JAN15-06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1767\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/204ea39e9ecb8f395a9bf8cad9cbc6fb.jpg?resize=840%2C560\" alt=\"SCST-17JAN15-06\" width=\"840\" height=\"560\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nichol working a turn on \u201cHoleshot\u201d.\u00a0 It is really hard to ride all of the trails in a single visit as you would have to double up on a few loops to reach all the trails .\u00a0 I estimate you would do nearly 30 miles with a healthy dose of elevation change.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/01\/20150117_164644.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1772\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/3dc36ee1d27cab706a08ace2d162e918.jpg?resize=840%2C472\" alt=\"20150117_164644\" width=\"840\" height=\"472\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We only a did fraction of the trail system, but certainly earned post-ride beers and a stop by one of my favorite burger stops in the area,\u00a0aptly named <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20150905063957\/http:\/\/www.yelp.com\/biz\/burger-stop-san-clemente\">Burger Stop<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 We are definitely going to get back here a few times
