{"id":1256,"date":"2014-10-28T15:20:14","date_gmt":"2014-10-28T23:20:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/?p=1256"},"modified":"2018-09-09T15:25:27","modified_gmt":"2018-09-09T23:25:27","slug":"blt-redtail-roost-and-noble-canyon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/?p=1256","title":{"rendered":"BLT, Redtail Roost and Noble Canyon"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday Nichol and I went up to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/LagunaRecArea.htm\">Big Laguna Meadow<\/a> to get in some biking and a night of camping.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/BLT-Noble-26OCT14-01.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1729\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/acadbc9549d0563c941ebe894cfac3d7.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"BLT-Noble-26OCT14-01\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was quite a pretty\u00a0day with some fall colors up in the trees and exceptionally\u00a0nice temps. After setting up camp we did a cruise around meadow.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/BLT-Noble-26OCT14-02.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1730\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/243b1a75e59aa87d191f3ee6b61d1aeb.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"BLT-Noble-26OCT14-02\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We were up bright and early the next morning to meet a gang-o-folks down at the lower <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/NobleCanyon.htm\">Noble Canyon<\/a> Trailhead for some playing around for the better part of the day.\u00a0 We left some vehicles at the bottom and then drove up to the Redtail Roost trailhead off of Sunrise Highway.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There were at total of 10 of us in the gaggle.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Redtail roost is a fun trail that goes along a wooded ridgeline for a ways before descending down into the Laguna Meadow area.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Encountering a dude all decked out in camouflage\u00a0early\u00a0along the trail was good reminder that it is hunting season up here.\u00a0\u00a0 I was also\u00a0glad I passed on wearing my buckskin jersey\u00a0and\u00a0Viking helmet on this ride.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/BLT-Noble-26OCT14-06.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1731\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/2e6825566c7939f87eeb2a0a542c91da.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"BLT-Noble-26OCT14-06\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After descending Redtail Roost we climbed up Aqua Dulce to the top of the Los Gatos trail where we then descended down to the meadow.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 But not without playing a few features here and there.\u00a0 Here is Michael playing on a skinny.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/BLT-Noble-26OCT14-07.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1732\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/e512e2381ada214d39324d0b8ea78ec6.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"BLT-Noble-26OCT14-07\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Dave getting in some log action as well.\u00a0 Once down on the meadow we went up the east side of the meadow a ways and the did a side loop that included a portion of the connector trail that goes between the meadow and the Pacific Crest Trail.\u00a0\u00a0 Once back at the meadow we went around and up the west side of the meadow and caught the connector over to Penny Pines and the upper Noble Canyon trailhead.\u00a0 It was here that David\u2019s frame broke where the downtube meets the bottom bracket.\u00a0\u00a0 So he broke off\u00a0\u00a0from the group for a very dodgy ride back to Redtail Roost along Sunrise Highway.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/BLT-Noble-26OCT14-08.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1733\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/imagescaler\/b259f259bb3751607e9ee22fe29ea319.jpg?resize=607%2C911\" alt=\"BLT-Noble-26OCT14-08\" width=\"607\" height=\"911\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was Noble Canyon time now and there was plenty of good stuff as always between the top and the bottom.\u00a0\u00a0 Here is\u00a0Jenny rolling was pretty stoke with my rig through these parts.\u00a0 After spending most the summer riding a XC hardtail rent-a-wreck my long-legged stretched out full suspension couch felt\u00a0awesome through this stuff.\u00a0 Woot Woot!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.mountainbikebill.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/BLT-Noble-26OCT14-13.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" most folks\u2019 mileage device had us doing between 24 and 25 miles with a little under 2,800 feet of climbing in.\u00a0\u00a0 While the rest of the crew headed out, I went back up to he meadow and\u00a0we broke camp down at a leisurely pace and then headed out\u00a0for tasty BBQ and Beer at Alpine Beer Company.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Another good weekend on a bike.<\/p>\n<!-- Begin Yuzo --><div
